Men's braiding in Koh Samui: styles, preparation and aftercare
Braiding for men in Koh Samui: which styles work, how long it takes, how to prepare and how to look after braids.

Braiding is a practical choice in this climate: hair stays off the neck, out of the sea breeze and tidy for weeks. It is also the longest service we offer, so it is worth planning properly.
Common styles
- Straight-back cornrows — the classic, clean and low maintenance.
- Patterned cornrows — curved or angled parts for more detail.
- Two-strand and box styles, depending on length and texture.
- Braided top with a fade or taper on the sides.
Length you need
Enough to grip and wrap — typically several centimetres on top. If you are growing it out for braids, tell your barber at your next cut so the length is preserved where it matters.
How to prepare
- 01Wash the day before and let it dry fully.
- 02Detangle thoroughly; do not arrive with heavy product in.
- 03Allow plenty of time — this is not a quick appointment.
- 04Bring a reference photo of the parting pattern you want.
Aftercare
Keep the scalp moisturised, rinse with fresh water after swimming, and protect the braids at night with a scarf or cap. Do not leave them in beyond the point where they look loose and fuzzy — taking them out on time protects the hair.
Booking
Because braiding runs long, book it in advance rather than walking in. Duration and pricing are shown on the Services page, and you can reserve a slot on the booking page.

Quick answers
- How should I prepare for braiding, and how do I look after it?
- Come with clean, detangled, product-free hair — it makes the work faster and the finish neater. Afterwards, keep the scalp moisturised, rinse with fresh water after the sea, and avoid pulling the braids tight when you tie them back. If any section feels painfully tight, tell your barber straight away and it can be adjusted.
- How long does each service take?
- Every service on the Services page shows its duration next to the price. As a guide: a men's haircut is around 45 minutes, a beard trim considerably less, and the grooming packages run as one longer continuous appointment. Braiding is the longest service we offer, so plan the rest of your day around it.
- How should I prepare for my appointment?
- Arrive with clean, dry, unstyled hair so your barber can see how it naturally falls. Bring a photo if you have a specific result in mind, wear something with a low neckline, and arrive a few minutes early so the consultation isn't rushed. Mention sunburn, sensitive skin or product allergies before anything starts.
